In Germany, companies are required to submit e-invoices to federal authorities since 27 November 2020. Since 18 April 2020, German local authorities and state governments are legally required to accept electronic invoices from their suppliers. On the federal level, this is already the case. For service providers to the government (suppliers and/or invoice issuers), the most important deadline is 27 November 2020. Before then, they can opt to provide their invoices electronically. After that deadline, they will be required to do so.
