Everything at a Glance at METRO
For more than 25 years, METRO Austria has been one of the most frequent users of EDI in Austria, which makes it one of the local pioneers in this area. As an early member of the “eXite® User Club” founded in 1986, METRO also significantly helped refine and develop processes for the entire Austrian retail industry.
At METRO, all logistics information is exchanged via eXite®, the EDI platform by EDITEL. In 2020, the company exchanged approximately 1.7 million documents with a total of 650 suppliers. In addition to the exchange of traditional movement data for standard procurement of goods processes, METRO also uses eXite® to exchange master data relevant for food labeling via a connection to GS1 Sync.
“EDI allows us at METRO as well as our suppliers to have fully automated communication and paperless administration processes. This resource-friendly approach is key in times of teleworking and will remain an important milestone for sustainability.” – Jasminka Dzebic, Senior Department Manager EDI/MDM/Space Management at METRO Cash & Carry Österreich GmbH
A pioneer in electronic invoicing
At METRO Austria, electronic invoicing (e-invoice) has always been an important issue. With a coverage of roughly 90%, METRO is one of the true trailblazers in Austria. For this purpose, METRO uses a customized e-invoicing solution provided by EDITEL, which allows for the full automation of the entire invoicing process, from EDI invoice issuing and the secure transmission via eXite® all the way to legally compliant archiving.
